Frequently Asked Questions
How to get your child to workout
As a parent, the last thing you want to do is tell your child
that they are overweight and need to work out.
Shattering a child’s confidence in themselves while they are growing can
be a hard situation to find yourself in, especially when you know your child
without a doubt has to work out.
However, there are ways to address your child’s need to work out without
directly addressing weight with them.
For instance, studies have shown that parents who workout
are more likely to have kids that are fit.
Therefore, as a parent you can put on a workout tape for an hour in the
evening so that you can perform your own workout.
Invite your children to join in and they most
likely will since they long to be involved in the adult world.
You also may consider restructuring their special activities
so that more activity and cardio workout time is involved.
For example, a trip to the playground across
town might be a better idea than a trip to the ice cream stand.
Or maybe you could make sure that you have
enough time in your outing for your child to enjoy both activities coupled
together.
This way, they get two treats
and a workout without even addressing the issue at hand.
